Starting on this date and lasting until Wednesday, December 1, 2021, Primary Leaders of SRLA Groups may 'loan' up to 10 Student Runner spots to other Primary Leaders of SRLA Groups.

Loaned Student Runner spots will be placed on the RECEIVING group's roster for the remainder of the 2021 - 2022 SRLA season and, barring any unforeseen circumstances, will be returned to the LOANING group (if the group is qualified) for the 2022 - 2023 SRLA Season. All returning spots will be in compliance with the Spot Allocation formula.

The LOANING Primary Leader must complete an online form to 'process' the loan.

All Friends of SRLA who are not a credentialed employee of a school district or an officer with a police agency are required to submit proof of Live Scan fingerprinting to the SRLA Office by September 27, 2021. There is a $20 - $30 fee for fingerprinting that is to be paid by the Friend at the time of Live Scan fingerprinting. The fingerprinting fee is the responsibility of the Friend. Friends with fingerprint clearance already on file with the SRLA Office from the previous season do not need to be fingerprinted again. Friends of SRLA without fingerprint clearance on file by this date will be ineligible for race registration.

WE hope to SCARE THE PLASTIC OUT OF YOU!!! The month of OCTOBER will be our GLOBAL AWARENESS MONTH.

The following is what every group should do:

1. Take the time to view THE STORY OF PLASTIC (YOUTUBE).
2. DEVELOP a RECYCLING strategy to collect recyclables.
3. INCREASE your level of AWARENESS as well as that of your friends that ALL PLASTICS ARE MADE FROM OIL.
4. DESIGNATE at least 1 day to BE PLASTIC FREE... sounds easy BUT you will see it is harder then you think.
5. TAKE THE PLEDGE TO BE PART OF THE SOLUTION and NOT PART OF THE PROBLEM.
6. Use the CASH from the recyclables you collected and have a PLASTIC FREE CELEBRATION.
   1. Do not bring RECYCLABLES to the 10K event.

Returning the to the City of La Puente, the SRLA Strength 10K is a double loop with a challenging uphill at the start of the race and a fast downhill for the finish.

Groups planning to use an SRLA bus to RETURN back to school from the SRLA Finish Staging Area of the Los Angeles Marathon MUST register for that bus separately from the bus to the Los Angeles Marathon start line at Dodger Stadium.

The SRLA Scholarship Program makes available $500 scholarships to qualified graduating seniors to apply towards their post-secondary education. This program is made possible through the generous support of our sponsors. Qualifying students must have participated as a member of SRLA at an eligible school, completed the Los Angeles Marathon, demonstrate a financial need, and an understanding of the goals and philosophy of the SRLA program.

Applications require answering questions about the student's SRLA experience, along with an online recommendation from the SRLA leader and an optional letter from a school counselor, administrator, or teacher.

A link will be sent to the student by 4:00 pm today, to the email address provided on the group roster.
